In a pioneering strategic move aimed at redefining national digital security concepts, Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) has announced the establishment of "Defendexe," its first spin-off company specializing in cybersecurity solutions.
This achievement represents a radical shift in the role of academic and research institutions as incubators for industrial innovation capable of providing independent national security solutions to protect sensitive infrastructure.
To demonstrate the efficiency of these solutions, both PSUT and the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) have commenced the application and adoption of the company's systems within their digital environments. A sophisticated smart system based on Zero Trust Architecture has been launched to enhance the security and immunity of administrative and research operations, positioning both institutions as leading local models in the use of sovereign technology.
PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija confirmed that the emergence of "Defendexe" and the practical application of its systems reflect PSUT’s commitment to excellence. She noted that transforming research ideas into a tangible reality adopted by the Parent Institution; the RSS being the true embodiment of the "Future Ready University" concept. She added that the company serves as the technical arm translating academic superiority into security products that compete globally and support the national knowledge economy.
This launch aligns with the vision and directives of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of PSUT's Board of Trustees and President of the RSS, who consistently emphasizes the necessity of adapting science to build independent national capabilities. Her Highness has directed the creation of an entrepreneurial environment that enables Jordanian talents to innovate sovereign solutions protecting national information security, making "Defendexe" and the collaboration between the University and the Society an ideal model for establishing the Kingdom as a regional technology hub.
The company were founded by Prof. Mohammad Al Nabhan, a faculty member at PSUT and an international expert in blockchain technology and cybersecurity. As founder, Prof. Al Nabhan utilizes his expertise to lead a technical team that developed solutions which have proven their effectiveness in the complex work environments of both PSUT and RSS, providing the company with high credibility against evolving threats.
"Defendexe" offers qualitative solutions that have proven their field effectiveness in enabling institutions to achieve digital and cybersovereignty, most notably:
VerifyX System: The first sovereign Jordanian digital signature system compliant with eIDAS v.2 standards, currently applied to ensure the integrity of digital transactions and featuring "Crypto-Agility" for quantum security.
Zero Trust System: Provides an integrated security architecture ensuring continuous verification of data access, significantly raising the level of digital protection at both RSS and PSUT.
Threat Intelligence System: Utilizes Artificial Intelligence to predict attacks and analyze suspicious behavior with high accuracy.
These products are distinguished by their capacity for full On-Premise operation, ensuring that sovereign institutions keep their data within their borders under full national management, thereby surpassing traditional global solutions in terms of privacy and security.
This achievement underscores PSUT's commitment to its leadership role in developing innovative technical solutions with national and regional impact, fostering cybersecurity and digital transformation through scientific research and effective strategic partnerships.
