Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) has achieved a new global milestone by securing second place worldwide in the international cybersecurity and penetration testing competition, the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC11), which was hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York State, United States.
The finals featured 12 teams selected from more than 200 teams representing some of the world’s most prestigious universities, all of which qualified through regional competitions. The University of California, Irvine claimed first place, while the University of Massachusetts Amherst secured third place.
PSUT’s winning team comprised students and faculty members from the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences and the King Abdullah II School of Engineering: Jana Falah, Leen Abdullah, Ahmad Obaidat, Ziad Al-Sharif, Saleh Al-Saheb, and Aiham Al-Sarkhi, under the supervision and training of Dr. Mohammad Ababneh, with academic supervision by Prof. Mouhammd Alkassasbeh.
PSUT President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija congratulated the winning team of students and supervisors on this global achievement, expressing pride in the distinguished results that reflect the excellence of PSUT students and their ability to compete at the highest international levels. She praised these efforts, emphasizing that such success is the result of sustained investment in high-quality education and in building national competencies in advanced technology and cybersecurity.
Prof. Abu Elhaija added that this achievement aligns with the vision and guidance of HRH Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, whose leadership strongly supports excellence, innovation, and the development of national capacities in advanced technological fields.
It is worth noting that PSUT’s team previously secured first place worldwide in the CPTC9 competition in 2024, outperforming Stanford University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
