Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), patronized the opening ceremony of the Security Operations Centre (SOC) Lab, established through a joint collaboration between PSUT and Jordan Kuwait Bank, along with technology partners Hayyan Horizons and Protech, located on the university campus.
The ceremony was attended by PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the CEO of Jordan Kuwait Bank Group, Mr. Haitham Al-Batayneh, members of PSUT’s Boards of Trustees and Deans, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, the Chairman of the Securities Commission, the President of the Social Security Investment Fund, as well as representatives from leading information technology companies in Jordan.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan spoke about the importance of the SOC Lab at the university, emphasizing that it will play a vital role in strengthening Jordan’s digital security ecosystem by preparing qualified professionals capable of confronting cyber threats and addressing the rapidly evolving challenges in this critical sector. She noted that the establishment of the lab aligns with PSUT’s vision of transforming theoretical knowledge into an integrated practical experience that simulates real-world work environments.
Her Highness further indicated that the laboratory represents a strategic investment in national talent and advanced technology and will serve as an advanced training center modeled after leading global security centers.
She also stressed that excellence in technological education requires continuous collaboration with both the private and public sectors, praising the university’s partnerships with Jordan Kuwait Bank, Hayyan Horizons, and Protech. She explained that such partnerships are fundamental and pivotal in ensuring that curricula and educational tools remain continuously updated, thereby enhancing students’ readiness for the labor market from the very first day after graduation.
For his part, Mr. Haitham Al-Batayneh, CEO of Jordan Kuwait Bank Group, stated that the bank’s support for establishing the Cybersecurity Monitoring Center at Princess Sumaya University for Technology reflects its belief in the importance of investing in young Jordanian talent and strengthening their preparedness for the demands of the rapidly growing digital economy, thereby contributing to building a safer and more innovative future for Jordan. He added that the center provides an advanced training platform enabling students to acquire practical skills and specialized expertise in cybersecurity, enhancing their ability to keep pace with labor market developments and future digital demands.
Prof. Abu Elhaija stated that PSUT’s achievements and distinguished progress, particularly through the introduction of pioneering programs in computing sciences, engineering, and business technology, have been made possible through the continuous support and guidance of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan. She noted that the SOC Lab represents a new qualitative addition that further strengthens the university’s academic journey and leadership in technology and cybersecurity fields.
During the opening ceremony, Her Highness and the attendees toured a number of student projects specializing in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
Her Highness also listened to a briefing by Dr. Ammar Odeh, Director of the Consultation and Training Center, regarding the role of the SOC Lab in supporting students’ practical development and assisting them in obtaining internationally recognized cybersecurity certifications.
Prof. Mohammad Al Nabhan, a faculty member in PSUT’s Cybersecurity Department, delivered a presentation highlighting the laboratory’s role in supporting the national education system and enhancing digital defense capabilities. He showcased practical applications and live scenarios demonstrating students’ efficiency in confronting cyber threats using advanced scientific methodologies.
Additionally, PSUT students conducted live cyberattack and cyber defense simulations within the laboratory, reflecting both the advanced level of student training and the high-quality infrastructure and equipment available at the Security Operations Centre Lab.
