Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, led the graduation ceremony for participants in the Semiconductor and Microelectronics Manufacturing Training Program. This program is a leading national initiative, part of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship’s Youth Technology and Jobs Project, and is organized and run by the Digital Skills Association. A total of 105 engineers completed the program.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Engineer Sami Smeirat; the Vice President of the Royal Scientific Society, Dr. Nabeel Fayoumi; Director of Digital Skills Development at the Ministry, Amira Qarqash; Board Member of the Digital Skills Association, Engineer Maher Khayyat; members of the University’s Deans Council; and several partners and experts in the field.
Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, Dean of King Abdullah II School of Engineering, said that the school plays an important role in preparing skilled engineers for the job market in Jordan, the region, and beyond, especially in modern and specialized fields. He explained that the school works with international universities, organizations, and national institutions to train recent engineering graduates from all Jordanian universities and help them gain the skills they need.
Abu Sharkh added that this intensive national training program in semiconductors and microelectronics is the first of its kind in Jordan. It highlights the school’s role in building local talent in this field and its efforts to help Jordan become a regional center for this industry.
Dr. Ammar Odeh, Director of the University’s Consultation and Training Center, said that this graduation marks a Jordanian success story and reflects a strong national vision for digital growth, industrial leadership, and investment in people.
He added that the university believes strongly in the value of developing human talent, and praised the role of Jordanian women in the program, noting that they stood out not only in number but also through their performance, creativity, and commitment.
Engineer Maher Khayyat, Board Member of the Digital Skills Association, said that DigiSkills graduates are ready to enter Jordan’s digital future with confidence, ready to innovate and contribute to building a better nation.
At the end of the ceremony, University President Prof. Abu Elhaija handed out the certificates to the graduates.
