The women’s beach volleyball team and the women’s 3x3 basketball team of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) secured first place at the ‘Leader’ Championship among Jordanian universities. The championship was organized by the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation in Aqaba Governorate.
The women’s beach volleyball team included students Selena Haddad and Katerina Haddad. The women’s 3x3 basketball team consisted of students Sarah Abu Shamma, Bushra Al-Habahbeh, Tala Shaarawi, and Marian Wahab, under the supervision of Yasser Musleh, Head of the Sports Activities Department at the university.
PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija stated that this athletic excellence and achievement reflect PSUT’s vision of empowering female students and supporting comprehensive excellence both academically and in extracurricular activities. She noted that the accomplishments of the participating teams embody the values of discipline and teamwork within the supportive environment the university provides to develop athletic talent and enhance student participation in university championships organized by relevant authorities, thereby contributing to building well-balanced student personalities and fostering a culture of achievement.
Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Ramzy Radaideh explained that the Deanship continues to support distinguished sports participation and to provide the necessary resources to prepare students to compete at the highest levels. This is achieved through unified efforts between the Deanship and the technical and administrative staff supervising the sports teams, ensuring the sustainability of preparation programs and continuous training.
The organization of this championship stems from the vision of the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation to advance university sports by providing an effective competitive platform that develops students’ athletic skills and strengthens interaction and integration among Jordanian universities. This, in turn, contributes to highlighting the athletic role of Jordanian universities across the Kingdom’s governorates.
