On behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), His Excellency Marwan Juma, Deputy to HRH the Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, patronized the closing ceremony of the 15th edition (2025) of the Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Award, in partnership with Orange Corners Jordan.
The ceremony was attended by PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija; the Deputies of HRH the President of the Royal Scientific Society, Eng. Raafat Assi and Dr. Nabeell Al-Fayoumi; the CEO of iPARK, Omar Hamarneh; the Director of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at PSUT, Mohammad Obeidat; representatives of institutions within the El Hassan Science City; deans of the faculties; and entrepreneurs from across the Kingdom’s governorates.
In a speech delivered on her behalf by Prof. Abu Elhaija, Her Royal Highness emphasized that entrepreneurship has become a way of life and a practical tool for supporting comprehensive development and creating sustainable employment opportunities. This aligns with the Royal directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to enhance innovation, strengthen public–private partnerships, empower entrepreneurs, and transform ideas into productive ventures, in line with the National Economic Modernization Vision, which places innovation, entrepreneurship, and private-sector growth at the heart of sustainable development.
Her Royal Highness further noted that the impact of strategic partnerships has contributed to preparing startups capable of growth and expansion, supporting the national economy with innovative solutions that enhance economic resilience and competitiveness.
She affirmed: “At the Royal Scientific Society and its affiliated institutions, we attach special importance to entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity. Entrepreneurship is not merely a word or a slogan; it is a tangible practice on the ground. Through the integration of roles among the Royal Scientific Society, PSUT, and iPARK, a comprehensive innovation ecosystem is formed—extending from research and scientific capability to incubation and commercialization, and culminating in the preparation of entrepreneurial talents and leaders. This integrated model reflects a long-term national commitment to building a knowledge-based economy.”
Her Royal Highness pointed out that the competition is organized annually alongside Global Entrepreneurship Week, reflecting PSUT’s commitment to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation and to building a supportive national ecosystem that transforms entrepreneurial ideas into productive and sustainable projects. She also highlighted the pivotal role played by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at PSUT—being the first center of its kind in the Kingdom—in advancing technological entrepreneurship, stimulating creative thinking, and building effective bridges between students, experts, investors, and national institutions, thereby promoting an entrepreneurial culture across the governorates and reinforcing the concept of a knowledge-based economy.
For his part, Mohammad Obeidat, Director of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, noted that the center is celebrating 22 years since its establishment. He affirmed that the award, which stems from the center, serves as an effective national platform for discovering young entrepreneurial talents and connecting them to a comprehensive support ecosystem that accelerates startup growth and enhances their market readiness. The program also provided participants with a fully integrated incubation track that included specialized training, one-on-one mentoring, and networking with support networks and partners to strengthen the success and sustainability of their ventures.
Eng. Sereen Dweiri, Incubation Manager at iPARK, explained that the incubator focuses on building entrepreneurial capacities, developing business models, and providing specialized mentorship, in addition to opening networking channels with supporting entities and strategic partners. This, she noted, enhances the competitiveness of startups and enables their sustainable growth.
In turn, Tareq Albitar, Executive Director of Media, Communications, Innovation, and Sustainability Management at Zain Jordan, affirmed that Zain’s support for the Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Award embodies a long-standing strategic partnership with the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at Princess Sumaya University for Technology. He stressed that Zain’s annual support for the award stems from its firm belief in investing in young minds and empowering entrepreneurs to build ventures capable of growth and development, thereby strengthening Jordan’s position as a regional hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Eng. Muath Al-Alawneh, Director of the National Fund for Enterprise Support (NAFES), emphasized that the Fund’s role as a supporting and training partner in the Boot Camp of the Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Award aligns with its mission to empower entrepreneurial projects by developing their administrative and financial capacities.
He added that the Fund focuses on building entrepreneurs’ capacities through specialized training and guidance in accordance with best practices, enabling them to transform their ideas into practical, sustainable projects that contribute to economic development, create new job opportunities, and enhance youth competitiveness in both local and international markets.
