Students from the King Abdullah II School of Engineering won second place in the Electrical Engineering Division at the 2023 Graduation Projects Competition of the Jordanian Engineers Association. This annual competition aims to motivate engineering students in Jordanian universities to enhance their creative ideas and present innovative graduation projects that reflect global progress in various engineering fields.
The winning team comprised students Imad Al-Shaham, Aktham Al-Maayah, and Omar Suwais. Under the supervision of Dr. Ibrahim Abu Shmeis, they developed a project titled “Design and Implementation of a GaN-based Class D Audio Power Amplifier.” The project aimed to design an efficient amplifier with high sound quality using modern GaN semiconductors. The team successfully built and tested a model of the amplifier.
Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, emphasized the school’s commitment to supporting its students in achieving future successes that enhance the university’s reputation locally and internationally. He highlighted the importance of presenting innovative ideas that meet the demands of the engineering labor market.
The competition includes various engineering specializations, such as civil, mechanical, electrical, mining, and chemical engineering. In the field of electrical engineering, 80 projects from all Jordanian universities were nominated, and 12 judges from various Jordanian universities participated in the evaluation process.
