The Jordan Securities Commission (JSC) and Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expanding cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest, strengthening integration between the academic and regulatory sectors.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the University by PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, and on behalf of the Commission by its Chairman, Mr. Emad Abu Haltam in the presence of JSC Board members Dr. Mohammad Jaradat and Ms. Razan Al-Shafei, along with a team of the Commission’s staff. From PSUT, Vice President Prof. Osama Badarneh and several deans and relevant faculty members attended.
JSC Chairman Emad Abu Haltam praised PSUT’s distinguished capabilities in the field of technology, noting that the Commission aligns with the vision for economic modernization, which includes digital transformation alongside legislative development. This requires upgrading the technological systems used in the Commission’s regulatory processes to ensure investor protection and promote investment by providing a safe environment for investment operations from start to finish—whether in the local financial market, foreign exchanges, or virtual asset trading.
PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija stated that this cooperation comes within the framework of enhancing integration between the academic sector and regulatory authorities. She noted that both parties agreed to launch a series of joint initiatives aimed at developing the financial oversight system and promoting innovation in capital markets, in line with rapid changes in the financial sector locally and globally.
Prof. Abu Elhaija emphasized that PSUT is keen to implement the directives of HRH Princess Sumaya bint Al-Hassan, Chairperson of the University Board of Trustees, to strengthen integration between the academic sector and regulatory institutions, support innovation, and empower students in financial technology and capital markets.
The MoU, the second of its kind with PSUT, includes organizing periodic training lectures for students in disciplines related to financial markets and establishing a special program that provides university students with opportunities to present new financial ideas—particularly related to financial technology—and to benefit from and support these initiatives to stimulate their capabilities. It also includes technical and professional collaboration between specialists from both parties.
The cooperation further involves developing high-level designs for advanced systems that serve regulatory functions, monitoring trading in foreign exchanges, and developing specialized regulatory tools in the field of virtual assets, thereby enhancing financial supervision efficiency and improving analysis and decision-making capabilities.
The MoU represents a strategic step to strengthen the partnership between PSUT and the Commission, ensuring a sustainable and innovative future for the Kingdom’s capital markets.
