PSUT Creates an Experimental Course on the Metaverse

The eLearning Centre at PSUT created an experimental course to test the features and immersive experience of the metaverse using Workrooms app in the Meta Quest VR technology. The course name is Knowledge Management Systems, and it’s being taught and tested by the eLearning team under the supervision of Dr. Adiy Tweissi, director of the centre.

President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija praised the experiment, recognizing it as one of the first courses of its’ kind in Jordan. Prof. Abu Elhaija indicated that PSUT always seeks to include the best and most advanced technologies in the educational system, which aims to always put PSUT on the global scale of pioneers in ICT field.

On the other hand, the Dean of King Talal School of Business Technology, Dr. George Sammour, expressed his satisfaction of the experiment, mentioning that educators from now on can create a more immersive style of learning, and also remodel the best pedagogical practices in the virtual world.

Dr. Adiy Tweissi, consequently, mentioned that this was only the beginning of a new era to come to educational systems. The Metaverse and virtual reality are both intertwined to create an immersive experience that educators and higher education policymakers can benefit from, by investing in solutions that can motivate and inspire newer generations to get online, immersive courses.

Last year, PSUT received five stars in the international QS Stars Ratings in the field of e-learning. The evaluation is based on the students’ engagement with their instructors in interactive lectures, the services and technology provided by the university, the export of services, and the exchange of expertise.
