Princess Sumaya University for Technology and the Income and Sales Tax Department signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in developing and using artificial intelligence tools to improve tax collection efficiency and reduce tax evasion.
The memorandum was signed by the university’s President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, and the Department’s Director General, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali.
The memorandum of understanding aims to promote cooperation in developing artificial intelligence tools to track tax evasion patterns, assess risks, and review tax data using machine learning and big data analysis. It also covers training Department staff in the latest AI technologies for taxation and carrying out joint research projects in this field. The memorandum also includes adding courses in accounting programs at the university to strengthen students’ knowledge of both the theoretical and practical sides of taxation.
University President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija expressed pride in the partnership, noting that the university always seeks to use its academic and research expertise to support national institutions. She added that the memorandum is a model of effective cooperation between education and the public sector in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analysis.
Dr. Hussam Abu Ali said the Department values advanced technological solutions and that the partnership with Princess Sumaya University for Technology will help develop innovative tools to improve auditing and ensure fair taxation, benefiting the national economy.
Both sides noted that this cooperation supports Jordan’s efforts to use modern technology to increase transparency and serve the public interest.
