Releasing the Sixth Folklore Festival at Princess Sumaya University for Technology

The Acting President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija inaugurated the activities of the Sixth Folkloric Festival for non-Jordanian students, which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Sudanese Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Hassan Salih Hassan Sewar Al-Dahab, a delegate from the Pakistani embassy in Jordan, Mr. Junaid Sadiq, the Yemeni cultural attache, Dr. Qibla Muhammad Saeed, the Libyan cultural attache, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mahdi Al-Dweik, a representative from the Russian embassy, and the director of cultural affairs and media in the Saudi Cultural Attaché, Ms. Reem Al-Barhoumi, in addition to the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, deans, students, and a number of the academic and administrative staffs.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, stated that the Deanship is keen to hold this festival annually with the aim of introducing university students to the various Arab and foreign civilizations and cultures, and to strengthen the relationship between university students of different nationalities. He added that the university is proud of its foreign students because they reflect the distinguished scientific reputation of the university, and after graduation they will be ambassadors of PSUT and Jordan in their countries.

Dr. Salem pointed out that the festival witnessed the participation of more than 15 countries this year, and this represents the cultural dimensions of their countries reflected by the unprecedented attendance of students who worked hard to highlight their civilized identity.

The festival's activities included folkloric performances and dances, a variety of shows from the countries participating in the festival (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Turkey, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Germany, Portugal, Russia, and Pakistan), as well as offering distinctive products, accessories, handicrafts, traditional food and sweets from each participating country.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Abu El-haija honored the ambassadors and sponsors who attended the festival, expressing her pride in their participation and support of the students.
