The Vice President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Bassam Hammo, handed Ms. Razan Zu’aiter, Chairperson of the Administrative Board and representative of the Arab Society for the Conservation of Nature, a donation to the 5th "Plant Your Resilience" campaign; one of the ‘Million Trees’ program campaigns in Palestine.
In presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, and in coordination with the Jerusalem Committee at PSUT, Prof. Hammo made a donation on behalf of the university to adopt the planting of 360 fruit trees, which will be planted in occupied Jerusalem and Gaza Strip to support farmers and their families to achieve their food security as part of a sustainable vision for those areas.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, said that the university students consider this campaign part of their affiliation and patriotic feelings towards their brothers in the occupied Palestinian territories. It is also one of the university students' participation in community service.
Ms. Zu’aiter thanked the university for its interaction with the campaigns of the Arab Society for the Conservation of Nature. She also gave an overview of the agricultural programs in Palestine within the "Million Trees" program, and in Jordan within the "Green Caravan" program, in addition to the "Control of Food" program, which is concerned with raising issues of our food security and related influencing policies in local, regional and international platforms. She, finally, talked about "If You Know" program for school and university students, which aims to spread awareness of agricultural and environmental issues. Zu’aiter called for enriching the partnership between the Arab Society for the Conservation of Nature and PSUT, and the need to link the academic side with volunteering.
The meeting was attended by a group of administrative staff and university students from the Jerusalem Committee, who organized the donation campaign in cooperation with the activities department of the society.
