Under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of PSUT’s Board of Trustees, the work of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020, now in its 12th year in Jordan, has been launched through the organization of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, in strategic partnership with the European Union and Umniah's Business Incubator “The Tank”. The events, which are being held via video communication technology, are taking place in partnership with 55 organizations supporting activities and 13 media platforms, and include 220 activities distributed throughout all governorates of the Kingdom.
The activities of Entrepreneurship Week revolve around several trends, most notably education and its role in promoting a spirit of initiative, entrepreneurship and innovation. Another focus is that of policy and laws, looking at the role of government in the prosperity of entrepreneurship. A third area of focus is the networking of institutions supporting entrepreneurial projects around the world and facilitating cooperation and partnership among them. Also addressed is the axis of inclusiveness that addresses the most prominent obstacles faced by entrepreneurs from underprivileged populations, and offers solutions through success stories, training and mentorship.
The Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship seeks to place Jordan on the global entrepreneurship map with 170 countries during this week, which it has been organizing for the past 11 years, in partnership with supporting institutions and organizations that are ascending in the economic and developmental fields. The Center is working steadily to promote the importance of empowering youth and create opportunities for growth and development.
Entrepreneurship Week is the largest global event to celebrate innovators and job creators who launch startups to bring their ideas to life, drive economic growth and increase the well-being of societies. It prompts the organization of thousands of events and competitions all over the world and seeks to inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity and to network with potential collaborators, mentors and investors.
