Princess Sumaya University for Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Al Kitab University College in Kirkuk, Iraq, with a view to enhancing performance, increasing the effectiveness of outputs and improving the educational process. The MoU also covers the evaluation of academic programs and exchange of research teams in the fields of Engineering, IT and Business.
The agreement was signed by PSUT’s President, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, while Al-Kitab University was represented by its Dean, Dr. Eyad Ghani Barzanji. Also in attendance at the signing ceremony were Vice President for Research and Development, Dr. Ghaith Al-Rabadi, the Dean of Admissions and Registration, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Al-Saidi, and the Director of the University’s Office of International Relations, Dr. Radhi Al-Hamadeen.
To open the meeting, Prof. Al-Refai expressed the University's desire to open the doors of cooperation between the two parties and to work together in the fields of teaching, scientific research and development, and serving the local and Arab communities. He went on to give a detailed presentation about PSUT, its academic programs and international activities, especially the joint programs with a number of international universities. He also reviewed the University's progress and its outstanding efforts in advancing the computer and ICT sector in the Kingdom, and providing the job market with graduates who are both academically and technically qualified to work anywhere in the world. Prof. Al-Refai pointed out that PSUT graduates entering various sectors of the market have an 89% record of finding employment within six months of graduation. He also listed the new study programs introduced by the University, the most remarkable of which is the Master’s program in Data Science. Prof. Al-Refai added that the University has received support from the European Union for 36 projects, with PSUT being the Grant Holder for five of them. This has had a positive impact on the entire University, with its students and members of both the teaching and administrative bodies all benefiting from networking with universities and learning from the wealth of European experience.
Prof. Al-Refai highlighted the cultural benefits to the two parties through the establishment of lectures, seminars, scientific conferences, and various training courses, in addition to holding workshops in the fields of IT, Robotics and Communications Engineering.
The Dean of Al-Kitab University, Dr. Eyad Ghani Barzanji, praised Princess Sumaya University for Technology’s reputation, which served to encourage the wish to strengthen ties and means of cooperation between the two parties and benefit from expertise in quality assurance and accreditation, international accreditation and joint programs internationally.
Dr. Barzanji also presented an overview of Al-Kitab University and its programs and expressed his hope of being able to establish joint research teams with the aim of bringing about a qualitative leap in the common disciplines taught by both institutions.
