Princess Sumaya University for Technology’s basketball team took first place in the Jordanian University Basketball Championship for the third consecutive time. In a field of eight competing teams, Yarmouk University ranked second, while third place went to the University of Petra.
Alongside Dr. Mohammed Alayyan, Chairman of the Jordan Basketball Association's temporary committee, PSUT’s Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Ramy Salem, acting on behalf of President Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, presented honors to some of the stars of the Jordanian national team who attended the final. These included Malek Kanaan, Mousa Al-Awadi, and Ahmad Al-Hamarsheh. Also honored was basketball analyst, Mr. Mohammed Malas, a graduate of PSUT.
The President of PSUT, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, congratulated the University’s victorious team and the PSUT family on this win, expressing his pride that the University’s students continue to take top places in a wide range of extracurricular competitions, with today’s win adding a new achievement in the athletic arena. The outstanding representation of the students in various local, regional and global forums contributes to the realization of the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, of raising the name of PSUT as a leading university. These competitions also allow students to demonstrate their excellent capabilities, stimulating a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, and fair competition among colleagues in various extracurricular activities, in parallel with their academic careers.
The tournament came as part of the sixth Annual Culture Week held by PSUT’s Deanship of Student Affairs.
