PSUT honors top-performing students from the National University Proficiency Exam for the academic year 2017/18
The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, honored those students who excelled in the National University Proficiency Exam which was set by the HEAC to assess the quality of students who are expected to graduate at the close of the first semester of 2017/2018. The ceremony reflects the policy of the PSUT’s Office for the Care of Gifted Students and the University’s belief that full support should be given to its outstanding students. The University ranked first in the general level of the exam, in addition to taking first place in the exact level in the specializations of Computer Graphics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Power and Energy Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, e-Marketing and Social Media, Management Information Systems and Business Information Technology, representing 82% of PSUT’s programs.
PSUT President Prof. Al-Refai congratulated the outstanding students and everyone who contributed to this achievement, emphasizing the University's determination to achieve the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees, by striving to put Jordan on the map of scientifically and technologically developed countries, and giving a positive image of technology and computing sciences, communication and business both inside the country and abroad. The President thanked everyone for continuing to raise the reputation of the University he wished everyone continued progress through outstanding service and hoped that the University would continue to flourish. He talked about the regular meetings that take place between students who have taken the Proficiency examination, the deans of the Schools and the President’s Assistant for Accreditation Affairs to take precise notes on the exam, thus benefiting from the students’ experience and using it to improve and develop educational outputs.
During the ceremony, the artist Fouad Hijazi dedicated a musical performance to the outstanding students. The celebration was attended by the deans of the Schools, University directors, the students’ parents and a large number of PSUT’s students.
It is worth noting that PSUT has upheld its outstanding ranking in this examination since 2004, maintaining the lead in excellence with first place in both 2005 and 2006 in the Jordanian University Proficiency Exam in the major of Computer Science. The University also achieved a clear lead in this exam in 2017, when it won first place for two consecutive sessions in the general level among 41 universities and community colleges. From among the University’s taught specializations, 75% ranked first in the exact level culminating in the University being crowned this year as the overall leader among Jordanian universities on the general section of the test as well as having 82% of programs taking first place in the exact level.
