As part of a series of regular meetings held by Princess Sumaya University for Technology ‘s President Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, on behalf of the administration, with the University’s faculty members, employees and students, and demonstrating the University's interest in its students from neighboring Arab and foreign countries, the President recently met with overseas students. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, and the Dean of Admissions and Registration, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Al-Saidi.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Al-Refai welcomed the overseas students, who are considered to be ambassadors for Jordan and the University in their home countries. He also reviewed the University's excellent track record which has put it in the ranks of renowned international universities by offering first-of-their-kind specializations in Jordan and the region. He also highlighted the fact that some PSUT students have gained international status in the fields of technology, engineering and programming, including those students who have been chosen to attend training at NASA, and those who have gained top positions in international and national programming competitions.
Prof. Al-Refai pointed out that PSUT offers a wide range of services, under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, and the Department of Public Relations. These services, a list of which was distributed to students during the meeting, include the procurement of entry and exit visas for study purposes, annual residence permits and help in finding a place to live. Prof. Al-Refai mentioned that the University intends to set a weekly two-hour appointment for the University’s students to raise any concerns they may have. The President also urged the students to keep in contact with the Deanship of Student Affairs regarding extracurricular activities. A special video is to be made for the overseas students and they will have their own sports team to enable them to participate in sports competitions, in addition to their participating in the Overseas Student Festival organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs.
Prof. Al-Refai stressed that foreign students may receive scholarships and study grants in the same way as Jordanian students, and that they are included in the student exchange programs organized under the agreements and memorandums of understanding signed by the University.
At the end of the meeting, PSUT’s President received the remarks and inquiries of the international students present.
