About

This program is expected to be a four year program leading to the degree of Doctorate of Philosophy in Computer Science. The program is hosted by the Department of Computer Science at the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences and is fully accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education. The main objectives of the program are the preparation of PhD holders that are highly-qualified as academics and researchers in the field of Computer Science and related areas, and providing an opportunity for study to potential candidates from Jordan and countries in the region who wish to pursue graduate studies but are prevented from studying abroad due to financial or personal reasons.

The requirements for this degree are 54 credit hours, distributed as follows:

*Compulsory requirements:

            a.  Coursework: 21 credit hours.

            b.  Dissertation: 18 credit hours.

* Elective requirements: 15 credit hours.

A comprehensive examination is required after the students finish the compulsory courses. The program is based on the course work and research approach.

 

Applicants for this program should fulfill the following requirements:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science or related field such as Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Graphic Design, with a rating of at least Good or equivalent.
  2. A Master’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science or related field such as Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Graphic Design, with a rating of at least Very Good or equivalent.
  3. English language proficiency, as required by the Jordanian Accreditation Commission.

Financial Support:

Teaching Assistantships will be provided to students admitted to the program. These Assistantships will cover tuition fees in addition to a reasonable monthly stipend.

Expenses:

  • Tuition fees: 300 Jordanian Dinars per credit hour (1 JD ≈ 1.5 US dollars)
  • Fees: 500 JD per semester (600 JD only for the first semester)
  • Application Fee: 50 JD
  • Living Expenses: Variable

The Department of Computer Science offers a two-year graduate thesis-based program leading to a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Science. This program is designed to promote high achievement in theoretical and practical problems within the field of Computer Science and to address the growing education demands for graduates and professionals with an advanced Computer Science education. This program has received full accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education.

The main objective of the M.Sc. program in Computer Science is to provide a technically- oriented scientific graduate education for individuals who are motivated to extend their Computer Science expertise and education, or to acquire new technical and scientific skills in this rapidly-developing discipline. Another major objective of this program is to prepare students for their graduate studies at the doctoral level.

Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) used to offer a highly ranked and innovation programs that fill the gap between Academia and the market needs. In its two years master program in Data Science, PSUT prepares the students for the dynamic, expanding world of Big Data and Data Science driven analysis and computation. Graduate students will acquire the skills necessary to help enterprise level companies harness data and discover insights for a competitive advantages. Students graduated from this program are expected to do predictive analytics, create truly data-driven businesses, recommenders, structured and unstructured data analysis etc.

The curriculum of this master program has four main pillars built based on the role of the stakeholders in this field as following:

  1. Data business people are those that are most focused on the organization and how data projects yield profit. At the entry level you’ll be performing the junior duties of blending and cleaning data and preparing basic predictive models.
  2. Data developer focused on the technical problem of managing data how to get it, store it, and learn from it. At the entry level you’ll be working with Hadoop as well as structured data.
  3. Data architects often tackle the entire process of analytics on their own: from extracting and blending data, to performing advanced analyses and building models, to creating visualizations and interpretations. This is a more senior role innovating new types of predictive analytic use cases, data products, and services.
  4. Data Researchers, who are innovating data science at its most and publish their results. For all these stakeholders the program should provide foundational statistical theory, foundational programming skills, data modeling, Machine Learning, Big Data concepts and Toolbox, and business modeling.

M.Sc. in Enterprise System Engineering

About

Enterprise Systems Engineering (ESE) is a multidisciplinary approach combining systems engineering and strategic management to address methods and approaches for aligning system architectures with enterprise business rules and the underlying IT architecture. Development and implementation are consistent with enterprise strategic objectives, and enterprise system capabilities with the diverse complex subsystems.

This program is designed to use the systems engineering life cycle as a framework for linking outcome-based engineering analysis and decision making with enterprise strategic objectives, addressing methods and tools for managing complexity, determining measures of effectiveness, and assessing return on investments from an engineering perspective.

The ESE Master’s program is funded by the MSC.ESE TEMPUS Joint Project, aiming at designing a comprehensive and unique curriculum. A study has been conducted by Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) and the German Jordanian University (GJU), as partners in the MSC ESE project, to investigate the needs for graduates in the field of ESE in Jordan.

The curriculum of the program has been designed in accordance with the results of the conducted study and covers four main fundamentals in the field of ESE: Common Knowledge, Development, Operation and Application. This conforms to the mission and vision of both universities in developing and offering quality education. As a result, the justifications of offering the Master’s degree in ESE can be summarized as follows:

  1. There are a relatively high number of graduates in Engineering and Information Technology in Jordan. However, such graduates do not have direct knowledge of the business environment due to a shortage of academic courses that are related to business enterprises. As a result, they lack the ability to link technology and information systems with business processes and strategic objectives of organizations. The ESE Master’s degree program aims at developing the knowledge and skills of engineering graduates in the field of enterprise systems technologies, decision-making and business problem solving.
  2. The aim of this program is producing qualified graduates, well-trained in practical and theoretical knowledge of ESE and equipping them with excellent managerial skills in the design, planning, analysis and management of enterprise systems. Such knowledge and skills will contribute to the adaptation of IT in solving problems related to business processes and enhance their efficiency.
  3. The ESE Master’s program and course syllabi constitute a unique curriculum since they have been developed in the context of the MSC.ESE TEMPUS Joint Project. The curriculum and course syllabi have been prepared in conjunction with the project’s partner universities in Europe and the Middle East, and under the supervision of Oldenburg University in Germany.
  4. ESE is a multidisciplinary degree program which combines Engineering, IT, IS and management and business processes. Therefore, it requires the participation of faculty members from these disciplines and from both PSUT and GJU in the teaching process. This wide participation will lead to diversity of teaching methods and exchange of research ideas, thus stimulating joint scientific research.
  5. The Master’s ESE degree, as the first joint program to be offered between two Jordanian universities (PSUT and GJU) will provide students with the opportunity to benefit from the research and laboratory facilities in both universities. Furthermore, it will offer the advantage of increasing intellectual diversity in the delivery of course material and potentially enrich scientific research in both universities.

About

The Department of Computer Science at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) offers a Master of Science program in Information Systems Security and Digital Criminology (ISSC) in response to the growing need for this specialization globally, regionally and locally. The Master program in ISSC aims to prepare students to acquire scientific, theoretical and technical capacity for dealing with institutions and companies facing the risk of growing much of their information systems and computer networks to cyber crimes that are punishable by the laws.

This decision came after the consultation with specialists from public and private institutions that might be targeted for cyber crimes or their work is essential in dealing with cyber-criminal activities. These institutions include all the security branches in the Jordanian government such as Public Security, General Intelligence Department, Armed Forces, Jordan Central Bank, and Crisis Management and private sector institutions such as financial institutions, telecommunications companies and internet service providers. In addition, this program is fully accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education.

The primary objective of this program is to prepare students for supervisory positions in careers requiring extensive understanding and interaction with information system security and crimes. The students' desire for this program comes from the strong relation between the two sectors in areas such as computer security, Information Systems (IS) strategy and policy, cyber crimes and prevention. Another major objective of this program is to prepare students for their graduate studies at the doctoral level.

M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering

About

This program covers the basics of essential electrical engineering specializations and offers the required depth and focus in one of four areas: electronics, computers, communications and power. It provides students with up-to-date courses in each area. It covers analysis and design using latest international tools and software adopted by modern industry. The curriculum was designed to include a mandatory common mix of electronics, computers, communications and control courses. The student can also select courses from the elective lists in the four areas to establish the required knowledge and depth in the sought specialty. The student can chose the thesis or non-thesis option. The thesis track requires conducting a specialized scientific research, write up a thesis and defend it against the examining committee. The non-thesis track requires passing a general exam, taken after successfully finishing all courses, and finishing an advanced project with a detailed report. The program is taught and supervised by distinguished, experienced and specialized faculty, who graduated from well-known internationally recognized universities.

Dual-degree Master of Science in Engineering Management Program

The Master of Science in Engineering Management is a focused, practical program designed to help established professionals learn to lead the business side of engineering. In the two-year program, MSEM students will gain fundamental leadership and business administration skills that can be applied directly to engineering projects.

Program Requirements:

  • Graduated from an accredited engineering bachelor’s program or a degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.80 in previous academic coursework.

About

As part of the tremendous efforts to the realize the mission of Princess Sumaya University for Technology regarding scientific research and the development of study programs, in addition to the development of new programs based on the integration of technology in different fields of knowledge, a Master's degree program in Business Entrepreneurship was introduced at PSUT in the second semester of the academic year 2012/2013. The Department of Business Administration offers a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship, which is in accordance with the University's strategic plan to take advantage of its specificity in the development of technology in various fields of knowledge. This program draws on the expertise of all three of the University's Schools, namely the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, and the King Talal School for Business Technology. Entrepreneurship is a discipline found in only a few universities in Jordan and the region.

M.Sc. in Business Analytics

About

The Master of Business Analytics program is started in academic year 2019-2020 as one of King Talal School for Business Technology.

Business Analytics is an interdisciplinary field in which information technologies are used to support people from the business world. Today, in the information age, business people are aware of the importance of business data. Data generated by executing the business processes (especially by means of Transactional Processing Systems) are recorded, processed, and analyzed. The aim is to discover interesting patterns, models, relationships, etc. that are valuable for managers to make their decisions.

Accordingly, the program provides courses in Information Technology (IT) and business. The student is required to pass 33 hours, 24 of them are compulsory and the remaining 9 are elective. Compulsory courses are more general. They are focus on the main concepts in Business Analytics such as research methods, data analysis approaches, data management, business strategies. Elective courses are more specific to one field of analysis. In addition they cover some advanced topics in IT such as big data analysis and artificial intelligence.
