Of the eight teams representing Princess Sumaya University for Technology at the Ahli Fintech Hackathon 2018, five have qualified for the final round. The competition is organized for Jordanian university students by a partnership of the HH Crown Prince Foundation and the Jordanian Al-Ahli Bank. Forty teams made up of 85 students from various Jordanian universities took part in the competition.
The qualifying teams are as follows:
‘Alliance of Jubeiha’, with team members Mahmoud Abu Deyah, Hamza Ziadeh, Mohammed Al-Salti
‘Banki’, with team members Laith Al-Zayyoud, Sanad Nimr, Shadi Shomali
‘Z’, with team members Zaid Khalaf, Jood Barakat, Renata Bakeer
‘7asebni Start up’, with team members Hamza Owais, Amer Darawsheh, Sa’ed Shameisani
‘Cloud Receipt’, with team members Salah Kilani, Farah Ayasira
PSUT was also awarded two shields; the first because it was the university with the largest number of participating teams and students, with 8 out of the 40 teams coming from PSUT. The second shield was for the teams that qualified for the second stage.
President of PSUT, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, congratulated all the participating and qualifying teams and their supervisors on this new achievement. He expressed his pride and pleasure in this victory, which puts PSUT in the forefront of Jordan’s universities. He praised the students and their supervisors for their ongoing efforts to participate successfully in national and international competitions, pointing out that these competitions lend support to their academic careers, sharpen their practical skills, and give them the opportunity to prove their excellent skill levels, as well as stimulating a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, and fair competition among colleagues. He also extended his thanks to HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of PSUT’s Board of Trustees, for her continued support of the University and its students in their efforts to make PSUT a leader in excellence both inside Jordan and abroad.
