Princess Sumaya University for Technology and Electronic Health Solutions (EHS), represented by its educational arm, Hakeem Academy, signed a memorandum of understanding. The MoU covers the exchange of expertise in the fields of education, training, support for student research, and a proposal to build a Master’s program in Health Informatics. It was signed on behalf of PSUT by its President, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, while CEO Eng. Firas Kamal represented Hakeem Academy.

Prof. Al-Refai reviewed the progress made by PSUT, its most prominent achievements and aspirations, and its unique programs at the regional level. He also mentioned its high standing on the national level, as well as its focus on the international dimension in the fields of scientific research, student exchange programs that are run through agreements with international universities, and joint programs with other universities in the US and numerous European countries. He also talked about the University’s participation in 41 European projects, five of which are under PSUT management. Al-Refai emphasized the University’s keenness to enhance its partnerships with leading active and influential institutions, and welcomed this cooperation that will support the health technology sector in Jordan. He praised the company's role in developing technological solutions that serve citizens and facilitate their access to the best available service.

Eng. Kamal commended PSUT for its support of the technology sectors and the great role it plays in this field. He noted that EHS was launched in 2009 with the aim of improving the health sector in Jordan through the implementation of a national program of computerization, which allows trained health sector personnel to create and maintain medical files for patients. He said that ‘Hakeem’ is moving forward with building on what it has already accomplished.

The MoU includes several areas of cooperation between PSUT and EHS, looking to underline the importance of the partnership between universities and the private sector. Among the areas covered are the fields of information security and big data. The University will provide training for a number of the company's employees in these areas, while EHS will lend support to a number of research projects carried out by PSUT students and provide guidance regarding their graduation projects. In the near future, the two parties will examine the possibility of developing a Master's program in the field of Health Informatics.
