The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, opened the activities of “Your Health Matters 2” week, organized by the University’s Deanship of Student Affairs. This event, held for the second consecutive year, aims to spread health awareness among PSUT’s students and employees, as well as the employees of the Royal Scientific Society. Also in attendance were PSUT’s Vice Presidents, the Deans of the Schools and the Dean of Student Affairs.
The two-day event involved numerous activities, such as free medical testing for blood pressure and sugar levels, eye and dental examinations, and practical first-aid demonstrations. Health education materials were available at the participating booths, which included a booth advising on healthy exercise routines.
Over the course of the two days, specialists in the field delivered a number of lectures on important health topics. The focus was on prevention of diseases, including cancer, and ways to quit smoking. Free health materials and many prizes were handed out.
The Dean of Student Affairs pointed out that this event coincided with both World Cancer Day and International Women's Day, which had encouraged the Deanship’s efforts to invite a diverse array of participants from the local community and institutions. The aim is to provide a wide range of benefits and give the students the opportunity to learn from more than one source. The venue was divided into a number of sections, including a section for raising awareness, a nutrition section, an exercise section, a section for medical testing, and a sponsors’ section.
