E-Learning Experience
I had initiated the use of
e-learning in PSUT since 2003 by developing the PSUT e-learning platform. I
conducted lectures for PSUT staff on the use of e-learning and to introduce the
MOODEL technology. I had developed and posted more than 40 different courses on
the platform. More than 50% of the PSUT professors are using now this platform
at different levels.
Currently, I am using the
e-learning for almost all my courses. I have developed within the IVLE Tempus
project a complete online course on e-commerce for a master degree on computer
science. For more information, visit the site: itcollege.psut.edu.jo.
In addition, I had been
selected as the main lecturer for the e-learning Network Engineering course
organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Menhaj
Educational Technologies and three universities in both Jordan and Palestine:
Princess Sumaya University for Technology, University of Jordan and Birzeit
University in Palestine ( December 2005)

Projects and Funds
1.
MEDFORIST Project ( from 2002- 2005):
I was the country manager of
the MEDFORIST project.
MEDFORIST is an Euro
Mediterranean project for building a network of universities and professors from
European and Mediterranean universities to share IT resources, expertise and
know-how.
Advantages for PSUT:
1.
E-learning Platform
2.
Training 4 people from PSUT in France and Morocco
3.
The
organization of the first International Conference on E-Business and E-Learning.
( Participants from 40 countries)
4.
Establishing the MEDFORIST lab. (Unit for research and development in E-Business
and E-Learning). Winner of the El-Hassan award of scientific Excellency in 2006.
5.
Funding received by PSUT: 120,000 Euro.
2.
IVLE
TEMPUS Project( from 2005 – 2008):
I am the coordinator of the
Tempus project (IVLE) in PSUT.
IVLE (INTEGRATED VIRTUAL
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: LEARNING SUPPORT SYSTEM) is a European funded project for
developing new curricula in Mediterranean countries.
This project aims at
producing a complete curriculum for graduate studies in computer Science.
Advantages for PSUT:
1.
It
provides PSUT with Hardware and software to improve the e-learning capability of
the university
2.
8
courses of the Master degree are developed on line by the partners of the
project. Two courses are developed by PSUT professors:
a.
Algorithm design and analysis by Dr Saed Hammad and me.
b.
Electronic Commerce by Dr. Arafat Awajan
3.
Funds received by PSUT: about 20,000 Euro
3.
PSUT-GEM
MIRA Project:
I am the PSUT coordinator
and contact person for the MIRA project.
MIRA is a project of the
Region of Grenoble in France for supporting the collaboration between PSUT and
the Grenoble School of Management (GEM).
The project aims at
facilitating the exchange of professor, programs between the two institutions
and organizing meetings and workshops for the students of the MIS and CS
departments in PSUT.
Advantages for PSUT:
1.
PSUT
professors scientific visits to GEM: (6 professors were involved)
2.
Professors from GEM had organized seminars for the students of PSUT and
workshops for executives and participant from the public and private sector in
Jordan:
a.
Four
seminars for students of the MIS department ( advanced topics on MIS, CRM March
2008, Knowledge management, and E-business in 2008)
b.
One
seminar for all PSUT students (Management of innovation - June 2008)
c.
Two
seminars for executives from different sectors (E-business and Innovative CRM -
March 2008)
d.
Workshops with PSUT staff on the design of MIS curricula and quality practices
in the business schools ( June 2008)
3.
This
project is funded by the French Rhone-Alpes region with 22,000 Euro.
4.
Jordanian Tunisian Project on E-learning Towards the Creation of an Arabic
Learning Object Repository
This project is selected by the Higher Council for Science and Technology
(Jordan) and
Ministry of Scientific research, Technology and competency Development (Tunisia)
to be supported within the framework of the Jordan Tunisia scientific
collaboration. The project was presented by Dr. M. Jemini from the Ecole
Supérieure des Sciences et Techniques de Tunis and Dr. Arafat Awajan from PSUT.
It lasts for two years ( 2008- 2010).
