PSUT honors top-performing students from the National University Proficiency Exam for the academic year 2016/2017
The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, honored those students who excelled on the national and University levels in the National University Proficiency Exam set by the HEAC and to assess the quality of students who are expected to graduate at the close of the first semester of 2016/2017. The awarding of honors is in line with PSUT’s policy to recognize innovative and outstanding students, in order to support the University’s excellent students and create an ongoing bond between them and their University. The deans of the University’s Schools and a number of administrators who contributed to this achievement were also honored.
The University continued its journey of achievement and excellence, maintaining the lead among public and private universities at the general level. The University took first place in Computer and Engineering specializations and fifth place in the field of Business Administration at the intermediate level. PSUT was ranked first in the detailed level in the disciplines of: Computer Science, Computer Graphics and Animation, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Power and Energy Engineering, e-Marketing and Social Media, Management Information Systems, and Business Information Technology. It also took third place in the specializations of Business Administration and Accounting, and fourth in the field of Computer Science. The majors in which PSUT gained top ranking on the detailed level constitute 75% of the courses offered by the University.
PSUT President Prof. Al-Refai congratulated the outstanding students and everyone who contributed to this achievement, emphasizing the University's determination to achieve the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees, by striving to put Jordan on the map of scientifically and technologically developed countries, and giving a positive image of technology and computing sciences, communication and business both inside the country and abroad. The President thanked everyone for continuing to raise the reputation of the University with a long string of successes, and he wished everyone continued progress through outstanding service.
Prof. Al-Refai expressed his pride in the excellent performance of the University and its students, and the determination to keep the University in the forefront, continuing the journey of distinction and shining success that has been achieved thus far. He talked about the regular meetings that take place between students who have taken the Proficiency examination, the deans of the Schools and the President’s Assistant for Accreditation Affairs to take precise notes on the exam and to highlight areas that have not formerly been focused on, thus benefiting from the students’ experience and using it to improve and develop educational outputs
PSUT’s Higher Committee is responsible for honoring innovative, outstanding students and the winners of local and international competitions, and the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Ibrahim Al-Saidi, expressed his pride in this constellation of stars which has raised the University’s name on the international scene. A long list of accomplishments has distinguished it from its peers through its outputs and its strong participation in a wide range of local and international forums, a fact that reflects the University administration’s keenness to produce outstanding outputs that are in tune with developments in the labor market. He pointed out that, on the national and University levels, 12 PSUT students from various disciplines had taken first place across all levels of the exam, with 8 of them being placed first against their PSUT colleagues. 130 students scored 90% and above in at least one of the exam’s three different sections
It is worth noting that PSUT has upheld its outstanding ranking in this examination since 2004, maintaining the lead in excellence with first place in both 2005 and 2006 in the Jordanian University Proficiency Exam in the major of Computer Science, culminating in the University being crowned this year as the overall leader among Jordanian universities on the general section of the test.
