Honors for PSUT’s IEEE Student Branch
In a dignified ceremony, inspiring pride in all in attendance, the Chairman of Jordan’s Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Dr. Ghaith Abandah, awarded honors to the student members of Princess Sumaya University for Technology’s branch of the organization, and to their supervisor, Dr. Fadi Al Shahrouri of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering. The honors came in recognition of the activities carried out during the year 2017 and the technical nature of the branch, and were awarded during the annual celebration held by the Jordan Section of the IEEE, with active participation of student branches from a large number of sister universities.
PSUT’s President, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, congratulated the branch’s students and supervisor on receiving this honor, which reflects the bright image of PSUT students’ creativity as well as adding to the University’s record of achievements and excellence. Prof. Al-Refai affirmed that the University administration puts all its focus on its students and encourages them during their academic career to get involved with a range of academic and extracurricular activities, which will help them in the future to enter easily into the labor market and keep abreast of the scientific and technical developments the world is currently witnessing.
Dr. Fadi Al-Shahrouri, the University’s IEEE branch supervisor, emphasized the support given by the PSUT administration to provide an IT environment that contributes to raising the students' proficiency, keeping them in pace with global information technology development. The University also ensures that the laboratories of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering are equipped with the latest technology, working in cooperation with the Computer Department of the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, in addition to administrative facilities within the University.
At the close of the ceremony, the head of the University’s IEEE student branch, student Abdul Rahman Sa’adah, reviewed the technical activities that lead to being given this honor, the most prominent of which are: Introduction to Electrical Engineering projects, mechanical design, network basics.
